Comments: Effective preschool programs capitalize on a time when children’s brains are rapidly developing, laying a foundation of social skills, knowledge and self confidence that paves the way for success in kindergarten and beyond. Start A Preschool is a completely different business model than home day cares.  Many women only work 5 hours a week for a supplemental income, while others work 5 hours a day.

Interacting with other children means learning how to wait, how to take turns, and how to listen. Young children learn social skills when they interact with other children. These social skills are critical to a developing personality and working with others later in life.

Parents are finding many advantages to preschools - primarily that their children start the foundations for academic learning. In preschool, children listen to poetry and songs -- building blocks needed for phonics and reading skills when it is developmentally appropriate. The playing with water, sand, and containers form the foundation for understanding some basic math concepts. Matching, sequencing, one-to-one correspondence are all activities that are done over and over in preschool settings and help children get ready to learn academics. Watching other children pursue a challenging task is also helpful for a child especially if they are a little older. The presence of other children and a wide variety of materials are two big reasons why a preschool is a good thing.

Preschool can be beneficial and can do many things that will help children be successful when formal school begins.

Children who go to effective preschool are:

  • More likely to become good readers in elementary school. Preschool gets kids ready to read.
  • Less likely to be placed in special education or held back a grade.
  • Preschool gets kids ready to learn.

Also, as the number of two-income households increase, more and more people are relying on day care centers to look after their children as they go about their daily tasks. There seems to be a need for centers as more and more mothers of pre-school age children are forced to find jobs outside the home. Many of htese parents rather have their children education rather then baby sat.

Advantages: We see this as a great opportunity for stay-at-home moms, teachers, single women, business women, and anyone who has a passion for kids and the idea of teaching preschool classes in their home.

Profitable centers are much more than glorified baby-sitting services. Social researchers have found that the most important years in a child's development are those from one to six. Thus, the exposure to the world in which he lives, the instruction he receives, and the habits he forms during those years, definitely affect his ability to learn and properly adjust as he progresses on through his years of formal education.

For mothers of today - usually better educated than their mothers - are more aware of these factors and wanting the best for their children, are demanding the structured preschool education and learning stimulation offered by modern day care centers. This is an honest desire of the mothers of pre-school age children - even those who aren't forced to work outside the home.

Disadvantages: Due to the current economy, and unfortunately, to the high divorce rate, which means mothers who might ordinarily stay at home and care for their own children must seek income to help make ends meet also makes it difficult to afford and you compete with day care centers.

Licensing can be expensive and sometimes local permits or home owner associations are required.

Starting a preschools requires a concerned parent to interview and observe the location before placing their child. The owner of the preschool needs to have a passion for kids, spending time with them, and being a good role model. Runing a preschool for money alone does not lead to success for either party.
