The economy is taking a toll on many of the small 'store front' businesses that are unable to keep up with their competition. One of the ways for a small retailer, a service professional (realtor, insurance agent), or a midsized contractor (DIY handyman, roofer, plumber) to create additional revenue is to increase credibility in their community by creating more valuable relationships.
Cutting costs, reducing labor, and reducing hours help you quickly to adjust to current economic conditions, but to move forward most businesses need to increase sales. But did you know that according to the Department of Labor Statistics, 1500 new home businesses are opened every day and raising!
I see this a a great opportunity for a win-win for both parties; the small business entrepreneur and the home business entrepreneur! As many of the consumers move toward businesses that have ethics and strong values, there is an opportunity to allow both to flourish.
Here are some ways that a samll businesses and home business could create mutually benefical events:
- A hair stylist has a jewelry party at the salon allowing both an opportunity to meet potenial new clients.
- A realtor has a wine tasting as a preffered showing allowing both an opportunity to meet potenial new clients.
- A lawn care professional has a pet party allowing both an opportunity to meet potenial new clients.
- Financil planner has an event explaing the challenges of having a business in the home
There are many different opprtunities to co-promote each others business without seeing each other as competition.
